British rapper M A Y releases latest single 'Grown' featuring MMA fighter Da Killa King
This is just the beginning for rising star rapper M A Y with Da Killa King taking a shot at music

His BBC Radio exposure catapulted his musical journey to stardom status.

"BBC has helped hugely because I have more recognition now than before and am pleased to have had my music featured by BBC. However, I feel this is just the beginning and there's a lot more to come,” the rapper shares to musivv in an exclusive.

After the success of his 7-track EP featuring the radio hit, 'WANNABE' with over 80,000 streams on all streaming platforms, M A Y is back with another banger 'Grown'. As with all his previously released music, the track was written by himself and is based on real-life experiences. "I express my pain through my music, you can almost call it therapy. That’s what music does for me," he says.

British rapper Leroy Rose, known professionally as M A Y, hails from the United Kingdom of Zimbabwean, English, German & Portuguese heritage.

The single 'Grown' shows M A Y's mastery in penning his emotions and experiences complimented by Alex Lahore aka Da Killa King's rough vocal tone resembling the MMA fighter's Oktagon experiences. The contrasting personas of the duo in the track knocks one out cold in the "audiosphere" with spitfire lines like "I'd rather die like a man, than live like a coward". He reveals that if there is anything that he would want his listeners to take home from the track is this: “I was grown in these streets, it’s like I’m immune to neeks I could never be a leech.” And by "leech" he expounds that never in his life will he beg anyone (a friend or a girlfriend) to be in his inner circle unless they care and would not have to question his intentions.

M A Y and Da Killa King shares the same obsession with earning a place on the podium next to their idols, and it does not seem far fetched.

His debut album sent shockwaves on both radio and digital music platforms totaling over a hundred thousand. With his new single, the trajectory seems to head in the same direction, if not, greater. And after all the hard work, M A Y has this to say. "After releasing the song I felt this sense of relief." Now he is eager for the world to hear his music. "As a music fan myself, I hope people feel some, if not all, of my songs." To the British rapper, he is positive that it can either help or change someone’s path in life if they are taking the wrong road.

BBC Radio Berkshire presenter Alex West has tipped M A Y to be "a success and one to look out for in 2022."
