March 11th, 2022 (Montreal, Canada) - Maleq announces his latest project “M INT”, released on March 11th. This 15-minute long EP is an independent production from Maleq who collaborates with engineer Jake Hydmann-Whittier (Zach Zoya, Véda) to deliver a heavily layered electronica sound topped with his moody R&B vocal palette.
‘’M INT is short for Mouvement International’’ explains Maleq ``When someone asked me to describe the music within this project I had a hard time doing it first. But I understood that my music was a movement, whether it’s an actual movement - like talking about my experience moving from Tunisia to Montreal in ‘’Modern Man’’ - or an internal one - like seeking closure in ‘Vilnius’”.
Using the influences from his Tunisian roots in his vocals, Maleq tops his cinematic productions to bring his experience as an immigrant, as an artist and as an individual in North America. Maleq blends his inspirations, navigating in a multitude of genres, and bends the styles of his own tracks in each interlude.
“I think being an immigrant helped me a lot. I experienced everything with some distance: my life in Montreal, Tunisia, etc… And that’s what I want to deliver, the capacity to anticipate what’s expected and constantly bring something new to the table.” says Maleq.
'M INT’ includes Maleq’s fourth single ‘Modern Man’, a track that got attention and featured Maleq as ROOTS Artist of the Week on musivv Magazine.
