Singer Kati M remembers how she turned heartbreak into her first single 'I Don't Remember
KT Meteora evolves from a singer to an independent recording artist following a heartbreak during the COVID lockdown

The song was penned a year ago during the COVID crisis.

"It’s about getting over a difficult breakup when you realize that you are still sad about the past, but these memories don’t hurt you anymore, Kati M recalls." Now, she sends out a universal message through her latest single 'I Don't Remember: it’s a time to move forward and be stronger.

Former X-Factor participant and current Dubai-based singer Katherine Meteora, who goes by the name Kati M, explored writing the melody and lyrics of the first verse of and chorus of her first-ever song using her iPad. Kati showed the demo to her friend, who was a musician as well, inspiring the singer to begin the daunting but fulfilling work of releasing a single. The same friend recommended Charly Munioz to collaborate on the said endeavor. "I greatly appreciate that they both pushed me to make it happen," says Katherine.

The singer-vocal coach was thrilled from the onset and finalization. "When I just wrote the melody and recorded the draft vocals in GarageBand, I could imagine how the song will sound when it's done." The work process was lengthy, almost a year, mostly because Kati Mwas occupied with other endeavors that held her back from putting in the ample time towards the project. In retrospect, she says, "In the future, I will try to make it faster," realizing that lethargy hits, "when the production when takes too long."

The lines "Don’t want you back, apologies, unsaid regrets, account in the bank, expensive gifts and other $h!t" hits hard according to Kati. She says that the possibility of the ex-lover's attempt to ignite old flames can only result in one response from her: "My love is impossible to buy!" Her stronger self will shine through. "Even if nowadays anyone can buy almost everything, unfortunately," she says (mic-drop).

'I Don't Remember' is now available on all digital music streaming and download platforms.
