Following the release of her infectious pop anthem,‘Doorbell’ and 'Milk N' Honey' in 2021, Singapore-based Italian artist, Matilde G is back with the absolutely sparkling 'Digging For Diamonds' available now on all major digital streaming platforms beginning today, 25th of March, 2022, with an amazing accompanying music video to be simultaneously released.
Produced by Erik Lewander (Kesha, Bonnie Tyler, Girls Generation, BoA) with Matilde G’s unique and brazen pop vocals, 'Digging For Diamonds' was co-written by Matilde G together with Josefin Glenmark (ITZY, Monsta X, Super Junior), Hanna Ferm and Erik Lewander.
In an exclusive interview, Matilde G said she loves co-writing because the singer believes music is sharing. "Unfortunately, I never had the chance to co-write in person with other musicians because of all the restrictions we went through in the last years in Singapore, but I hope it could happen soon! Sharing files is not like being together in a studio to create music. I’m Italian and for me, human connections are very important. My label The Kennel AB in Sweden has amazing songwriters and I would love to meet them and collaborate as soon as possible," she explains.

Matilde G shared with musivv how personal the lyrics are, as it is with her other songs. "The themes of my songs are always personal. I wrote 'The Distance' when I moved from Rome to Singapore, or 'Milk N' Honey' to express my needs of freedom," says the young artist. 'Digging For Diamonds' talks about a relationship where the guy doesn’t respect her. He keeps on digging in the dust looking for diamonds without seeing the one in front of him. "I love this song because it represents exactly my path in my music journey. It’s a milestone!"
Touching lyrics about a complicated relationship where a woman is subjected to hurting by not respecting and playing with her feelings. She the protagonist, expresses her emotions, sadness, frustration, anger to the notes of this song. A chorus that explodes to the heavens, supported by a true star’s voice, all represented visually in the music video in form of “Diamonds” and “Dust”, encapsulating Matilde G's beauty, elegance and sensuality through aerial acrobatics, empowering acting scenes in a giant cage, fashionable and trendy outfits, makeup and style.
"I loved all the process, but this time shooting the music video was very special! I decided to express the meaning of the song representing “dust” and “diamonds” in different forms…black and white wings, steps and bridges, cage and aerial performances. We shot a few scenes inside a museum at night time, very impressive and a little bit scary," she laughs.
The young artist said: “This song is an evolution in my artistic productions, it sounds more mature and represents exactly the path I want to take in my music journey.”
'Digging For Diamonds' is one of those songs that could remain in the history of pop music.
